The BEST Time...

This Zen Quickie is great for two reasons;
1) It reminds us of how our brains work - It wants SIMPLE and EASY. Therefore when we see titles of posts such as "The best exercise" or "The best food to eat" or "The best morning practice" we immediately click it, because that little voice in our head says "OMG! Now I can just do that and life will be great!"
2) The REAL reason for this Zen Quickie is because it's a VERY common approach, that continues to NOT work for us. The only way to move away from it is to first BE AWARE of it.
So it's time to ask and answer:
Question: When is the BEST time for me to do something for myself??
Answer: When 💩 is hitting the fan and life is crazy!

MOST people are still approaching health in a "when things slow down" mindset. I've had MANY conversations, including one recently reminding folks that LIFE DOESN'T SLOW DOWN!! Especially today. If it does, it's not for long - so don't expect you to have 3-4 months of "slow living" coming once you finish a project at work, your vacation starts etc...
Life ebs and flows naturally through periods of busy times and down time. WE are the ones who DECIDE if life slows (even just a little) for ourselves. It HAS to be a conscious choice though.
But most people WAIT. They put themselves and their health off "until things calm down". However, that practices NOTHING BUT PUTTING YOUR HEALTH OFF longer. That's it! THAT is what you get good at.
START RIGHT AWAY
I could go deep here, but for the fact that it's a Zen Quickie I'll stay brief...
...START now.
...START as EASY as possible.
...Do it again EVERY DAY, "busy" or not.
If you can't do what you're setting out to do for your health during the crazy busy days, then it's TOO MUCH. Scale it back, but DO SOMETHING. No matter how small. THAT is what will get you to PRACTICE putting YOU and YOUR HEALTH into your EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Be REAL with yourself. LIFE gets busy - and it will, over and over again. When life does settle, it's temporary. That temporary slowing, certainly is NOT enough for health and wellbeing over the REST OF YOUR LIFE! The BONUS of working in your own SIMPLE and EASY health habits when things are TOUGH is that when things DO settle for a bit, it'll be THAT MUCH EASIER to continue to do them!!! And as things get wild again, you already know what to expect and how you can still make your health a priority. ☯
This Zen Quickie is a reminder that many of us need to chat about with ourselves and others. THIS is life. Habits don't wait. You have to CREATE, EXPERIMENT and PLAY with what works in your crazy world.
