What is ASHIATSU Massage Therapy you ask?
A unique Registered Massage Therapy technique like you've never experienced before!!
The ancient art and therapeutic practice of barefoot massage is best known in North America as the Japanese term "ASHIATSU" - - "ashi" meaning foot + "atsu" meaning pressure.
For the safety of both the therapist and the client, barefoot massage is preformed on a massage table with overhead parallel bars to ensure the stability and precision of each stroke. Swedish style relaxation and/or deep tissue techniques can be achieved using the feet. The therapist uses their bare feet to engage the tissue with broad, comprehensive effleurage and petrissage to create structural change in the soft tissue, increased mobility + working out knots and muscle tension.

Ashiatsu is over 3,000 years old and its history spans many cultures and countries from Japan to the Philippines and India to Hawaii. In our neck of the woods it's still a relatively new style of massage that not many people have experienced. Most people think of barefoot massage as a deep tissue technique and while it is absolutely amazing for deep work, it can also be used for Swedish style relaxation. Ashiatsu allows a practitioner to use their body weight more effectively and creates higher muscle compression due to the surface area of the feet allowing for a deep yet relaxing experience.
