I mentioned in my first poem post that I am a huge fan of Donna Ashworth's work. She shared a poem recently from her latest book, "Joy Chose You" and it certainly speaks to what many of my thoughts and posts have been recently.
Here is Donna's Poem called "Stop":
The world won't stop still if you do
the tides will not cease to flow
the sun will still rise and set if
you take some time out alone
the sky will still rumble if you rest
the days will still move the night
the world will continue to turn if
your fire needs time to ignite
the people will breathe still without you
the chores will stay patiently there
the things on your list will not wander
if you take time out for self care
the world won't stop still if you do
so fear not the tears in your eyes
they wash and they clear up your vision
and that's how you reset and rise.
I find these words humbling in a way as well. To remind us that we're NOT the centre of the universe - we actually play a VERY tiny tiny portion in life. For me, I don't take that as a bad thing; it's a GOOD thing! It means WHEN I CHOOSE to step back and breathe each day, everything will carry on without me. It's OK!
Much of where so many struggle in their health habits today, has to do with HOW THEY CHOOSE to live their daily lives and schedules. The "MORE-MORE-MORE" or "GO-GO-GO" mentality HARMS our health!! We're LIVING PROOF. The irony is that in order to RECOGNIZE that FACT...
We have to SLOW DOWN, BREATHE and JUST BE each day.
