Client Story: When your new "light" is 2x heavier - That's Progress!

Progress.

Small steps.

Patience.

These words are the sorts of things my clients hear all the time in our discussions. Why? Because THEY HELP create the positive changes we want to see, even when we don't always realize it. These are PROVEN methods to positive change in health and wellbeing.

I have two "besties" who have been working with me for the past couple years. Not only are they both open to having discussions surrounding habits, mindset and lifestyle but they also create a strength in "the team" by helping each other in more than just "I'll go lift heavy things with you". They talk, they share, they support each other in each other's health practices; which includes their mindset! When one is down on themselves, there is a best friend (and their coach as well) to bring their mind back to a realistic and constructive space. When one is up, there's more people there to keep them rolling with their progress! It's a great system. Let me show you...

🏋 Recently, while one was down her pushups, the other reminded her that 2-years ago they both couldn't do 3-5 wall pushups without struggle. Now they both do 10-pushups on the floor as their norm.

🏋 Both clients had the goal of STRENGTH. Lift heavy things (in a reasonable and safe way). BOTH acheived that goal without question in our work together, lifting more than they thought they would ever be able to - regularly. When one was dealing with some annoying injuries, she was getting down herself about the fact that she "wasn't able to do it as easily now" (not to mention just the mindset we all naturally fall into when we're injured). However, what her "team" helped remind her of is that now her "light" lifts are much heavier than where she started. A little over 2x heavier to be exact! That's the new "light lift" for these two! Amazing.

Throughout the couple years working together, there has been not only progress in mindset, approach, consistency and lifts but there's been plenty of "blips" along the way too. Progress is NOT linear folks. There are ups and downs, twists and turns and a rollercoaster of learning in many ways along the way in anything in life and our health is no exception;

  • Getting down on themselves when things are tougher some weeks

  • Dealing with health concerns and/or injuries at times

  • Overthinking, overanalyzing and/or worrying about what else they "should be doing"

  • Dealing with life stressors (stressful work days, family, travel etc)

These are ON-GOING discussions that our team has together. This is also the benefit of coaching and having that support network. Without the openess to these conversations and the consistency these two show in their health practices, they would have done what most people end up doing; STOPPING. I don't mean stopping sessions with their Health & Wellness Coach, I mean stopping their health habits completely. But they don't. They keep going. They keep learning about their approach, themselves and opening their minds to the progress they HAVE made when their mind is trying to convince them otherwise.

Progress.

Small steps.

Patience.

They are amazing things. Put that into a "team" environment with the right blend of laughter, support, learning and effort and you see positive change in your DEEP HEALTH grow each day.
