Slowing Down by "Secondary Means"

Keeping with the theme of SLOWING DOWN during this busiest time of year for most of us, not only am I sharing these thoughts here on the blog, but I have an optional challenge that I presented in my app as well, which most people jumped on board with.

The idea is to SLOW DOWN. Every 5min that you do so in the day, you get 5pts toward your challenge total and you can do this a maximum of 5-times (25min) per day. The idea is a challenge against yourself ultimately - to see if you can (even in the busiest of seasons) take time for yourself to SLOW DOWN. My HOPES was that it would potentially create some momentum for some folks, bring on some "ah-ha" moments for others and hopefully carry on into next year! (It also allows me to learn how challenges work in the app - as this is my first time utilizing that tool 😁)
One of my clients, who was one of the first to respond and accept my challenge is a high school teacher. A great example of BUSY this time of year, is certainly a high school teacher. A week into the challenge, I noticed she had marked NOTHING. Again, it's totally optional, but I found this odd for HER.
When I connected to check in and to ensure it wasn't anything technical or anything, she sent me this message:
"Hi Derek, I haven’t been able to get it started BUT I have to share this with you.
So work has ampted up in the past 2 weeks. It’s just that time of the semester. Anyhow, just by seeing the reminders, I am actually slowing down whatever I am doing. I like it. I still plan on completing the daily challenges. I feel I am already benefiting 😊"
This was not only an "ah-ha" moment for her, but for me as well. Sometimes it's the thought that's presented or the way we word things that can create a positive impact. It doesn't have to be fancy, it just has to be a CONCIOUS THOUGHT to create change from the inside out.
If you're resonating with my client, and maybe even find these SLOW DOWN posts a little bit stressful, do as my client has done and just take even ONE SMALL, TEENEY-TINY MOMENT to remind yourself;
"Take a moment. Breathe. Slow down."
Imagine the impact of doing that REGULARLY throughout your days! You'd soon feel like a completely different person. 😉
