A client shared with me in our usual awesome discussions about habits and mindset, a story about her friend and her friend's walking. It's NOT an uncommon mindset that her friend has, so I thought it would make the perfect Zen Quickie for all you awesome readers/followers!

Here's the points to take in...
🚶My client's friend is the type of person who "has to" walk 2hrs at a time for it "to count".
🚶My client's friend ALSO has complained that she has only walked twice since the spring.
Walking gives us SO MUCH more than "exercise"
I CAN'T go into everything walking does for us as this is a Zen Quickie post. However what I will say is that walking goes well beyond "exercise" for humans. It promotes health at the CELLULAR level, it helps our cognitive performance, it improves creativity, it helps with stress management, it helps with our sleep... The list goes on.

Here's the reality of folks like my client's friend; The mindset that 2hrs of walking is what it takes "to count" has provided her with TWO walks in the past several months. If that mindset is open to the idea that shorter walks "still count" and would be EASIER to fit into this person's days - There would be more consistency in their walking. Since our health is accumulative, the shorter duration walking would add up to MORE over time in both consistency of movement and time spent walking.
The numbers breakdown:
2 walks x 2hrs each = 4hrs between April - August (we'll use in this example). A 4-month period.
30min walks x 5/week = 150min per week x 16-weeks = 40hrs between April-August.
*If you're following, that equates to 10x the amount of walking that 2hrs each walk has given this person!!!!!! 😲
Again, I'll say that we NEED to GET OUT OF OUR OWN WAY!!! Start putting energy towards NEW and REFRESHING mindsets and approaches and you may find that you're health shifts in very positive ways (without much force or extreme effort).
Take away from this ZEN QUICKIE the FACT that EVERYTHING "COUNTS" when it comes to deep health and wellbeing.
