LET YOURSELF be a BEGINNER!

I hear it REGULARLY from people (past and present)....
Client: "I'm not good at that."
Coach: "Do you do it regularly?"
Client: "No."
Coach: "Then why should you be 'good' at it? Have you tried to improve it before and practice TO get 'better'?"
Client: "No"
Coach: *crickets*
We've LOST the mentality (somewhere, at some point in time) that we NEED to PRACTICE something, over time, to become good at it. PERIOD. WHERE DID THAT GO??
Instead, we do something ONCE or TWICE and then, because it's "hard" or we don't "get it right away", we just DON'T DO THAT anymore.
Imagine if our kids followed our example?!?!
"Learning to read is hard, so I just won't do it..."
"Math is hard, so I just won't go to that class..."
"Spelling is hard, so I just won't write..."
"School is hard sometimes, so I just won't go..."
"Learning an instrument is hard, so I just won't..."
"Being able to draw / paint is hard, so I'll just stop trying..."
ANY parent and/or HUMAN reading this would MOST LIKELY say what to that child?
"It's okay. You just need to practice. You'll get better." But we COMPLETELY overlook telling ourselves that VERY SAME ADVICE! Not to mention, we CAN'T (and WON'T) be "good" at EVERYTHING. STOP acting like you "should".
Can you imagine our world if EVERYONE had this attitude describe above? We'd have NO creativity, NO inventions/advancements and NO experiences and learning to pass along ANY sort of wisdom and inspiration in life.
TIME TO TAKE OUR OWN ADVICE TO HELP OURSELVES AND OUR DEEP HEALTH
Why was Wayne Gretzky so good at hockey? Because he practiced, failed and learned.
Why was Michael Jordan so good at basketball? Because he practiced, failed and learned.
Why was James Taylor so good at music (both songwriting and playing guitar)? Because he practiced, failed and learned.
Walt Disney was once fired for "lack of imagination". 😳
J.K. Rowling's manuscript for Harry Potter was rejected TWELVE times. 😳
Vincent Van Gogh sold ONE painting in his lifetime, yet created over 800 works.
We could do this forever! To add to it, we've all heard the stories before where these SAME people that we look up to in their craft, FAILED multiple times before becoming "good at their craft"!!! 😯
They missed shots.
They missed notes.
They were cut from teams.
They were rejected.
They "failed".
THIS is a PRIME example of why my coaching has evolved into MINDSET and HABITS based in order to help people cultivate a healthy, active lifestyle - IT'S our MINDSET that is the FOUNDATION of WHO WE BECOME.
Having a BEGINNER'S MINDSET can be the MOST POWERFUL TOOL in your arsenal to creating the positive change you want to see in your health and lifestyle.
