Coaching in 2026: Insight into the Modern Approach at Zenergy Health & Wellness

I'm just flat out saying it more and more at this point in my career, and I seriously mean it in a constructive yet fed up way:

👉I DON'T do what I do for a living to babysit adults.

👉I'm NOT here to 'tell you what to do'.

👉I'm NOT here to 'make you do anything you don't want'.

👉I'm NOT here to stand over you while you exercise to 'make sure you do it'.

👉I'm NOT here to force you to eat something you don't like or don't want to eat.

👉I'm NOT here to pretend you'll be fine and healthy for the long haul when you sacrifice sleep, work 24/7 and/or live on 'high alert' due to stress in your daily lifestyle.

I AM HERE TO HELP PEOPLE WHO ARE READY, WILLING AND WANTING TO HELP THEMSELVES build the habits they want and who need that professional guidance, support and discussions.

As we learn MORE about human health, pscyhology and physiology the absolute NEED to adjust, shift and have an open mind is imperative to all of us if we want long term success in our efforts.

My career continues to evolve and I no longer offer the approach I did for most of my career. I work on a deeper, holistic level with people now and it's doing awesome things for my clients who have evolved along this path. I wanted to share a couple coaching examples of what that MAY look like.

Let me share a couple examples of how coaching in 2026 has a BIGGER impact on clients when we approach it from a holistic standpoint.

A few weeks back a client of mine mentioned her desire to try SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding) to see if she enjoys it. She loves the water. She loves the outdoors. She has a kayak of her own, so loves paddling. She's always open to trying new things. I told her that Shawna and I have had SUP boards for a little over a decade and I'd be happy to take her to introduce her to it!

A couple weeks later, for her session I met her at the park here in town where we blew up the boards (they're inflatable SUP boards) and set off into a calm morning river to introduce her to a new activity.

Her daughter (also an awesome client of mine) came to go for a swim while we paddled. She took some pics and they shared them with me, and were willing for me to share our session with you here on the blog to help you open your mind to what modern Health & Wellness coaching ACTUALLY can be!

We started her on her knees, I shared some quick tips and it wasn't long before she was finding her balance and standing up on the board.

And up river we went for nearly an hour on the morning water.

We talked about all kinds of things. We moved our bodies. She experienced something new!

When we got off the boards, I WISH you could've seen her face. She had the biggest smile from ear to ear and we both knew at that moment, that she'd be investing in her own in the near future. She LOVED it! She thanked me several times and gave me a hug before we left.

Think about this:

  • A coach can open you up to new experiences, mindsets and possibilities

  • By having a support to do something like this, it sparks an excitement and motivation to do exciting, fun and healthy things in a client's lifestyle

  • It's doing something the CLIENT wanted to try. No one is "making her" do anything she doesn't want to do. She's CREATING her own path to health and wellbeing.

THAT is how Health & Wellness Coaching works today and that is how I'm continuing to evolve as a coach. Prior to our SUP session, I started my morning with a rainy walk with a client and we got some hills and stairs in together along the way (which is in her plan she does in-between seeing me bi-weekly), followed by my 30min "Redefining Strong" Strength & Mobility session for 60yrs+ with one of my wonderful groups.

Remember our photographer extraordinaire? (Photo creds C.R!) ~ Well last month, she asked me if her session could be playing Pickleball with her.

Locally, Frankford arena offers free pickleball a couple days per week for a few hours to anyone who wants to play. My client and I grabbed a court, and enjoyed laughing, moving and yes, trash talking (my bad) for her session. It offered the same benefits as her mom's SUP session for her (though she's played pickleball before).

With my use of the Deep Health Model, it has opened my coaching to allow people to experience NEW ways that they can find enjoyment, longevity and sustainability in their health (which ultimately is what everyone wants!). I'm doing my absolute best EVERY SINGLE DAY to help remind people that you don't "have to do" anything you don't want when it comes to health and lifestyle. You have SO MANY ways of how to start, what to choose to do and how you choose to do it. But FIRST you have to LET GO OF the old mentality of seeking someone to "tell you what to do" and starting from a place you ALREADY don't enjoy.

Open your mind to the possiblities AND to the long term lifestyle!
