As we come to the holidays and the end (temporarily of course) of our discussions and theme surrounding SLOWING DOWN, this powerful poem speaks volumes about a foundational part of SLOWING DOWN - YOU!
"With you"
by Donna Ashworth
We are kinder at Christmas
that turth is still true...
But are you being kind to yourself, too?
You're only a kind person,
if your kindness is for all.
Otherwise, you're people-pleasing
and that mistake is not small.
Kindness sparks within you
and radiates out.
That inclusion is key -
it's what kindness is about.
Reach within, offer tea and bring
peace to your heart.
If you wish to be kind,
with you lies the start.

A major source of our "go-go-go" mentality and lifestyle is due to the fact that we are NOT kind to ourselves. We don't even CONSIDER what our physiology is trying to tell us, because we're too busy to pay attention. We do for EVERYONE and EVERYTHING else and NEGLECT ourselves. These words in Donna's poem in particular ring SO true ...
But are you being kind to yourself, too?
You're only a kind person,
if your kindness is for all.
Otherwise, you're people-pleasing
and that mistake is not small.
She eludes to the FACT that we need to START from the INSIDE-OUT as she follows with...
Kindness sparks within you
and radiates out
I truly hope you'll SLOW DOWN enough to meditate on these words MORE, because so many are in desperate need of not only HEARING/READING these words, but UNDERSTANDING and ACTING on them as well. 🙏
