A list of LIFE TRUTHS we tend to forget

I came across this blog post from Marc & Angel and I wanted to share it here with you, along with my own perspective on each point*, as I think it's a nice reminder for all of us. We live so much outside of ourselves today and on auto-pilot that, it's so easy to get caught up in nonsense in today's world. We all need that constructive little dose of reality sometimes to check in and I think it's important for everyone to take some time to meditate on these points of our reality in order to help create the lifestyle we are seeking.

*Adapted from Marc & Angel's "10 painfully obvious truths about life everyone forgets"

  1. "The average human life is relatively short". Earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. It's estimated that in another 5-7 billion years, our expanding sun will "burn us up" (not to get too technical or terrifying). The average human lifespan globally is 73yrs old today.

That is such a minuscule amount of time that we're actually here for in the grand scheme of things:

If we take over 9 billion years (approx) of Earth's total lifespan and we live (on average) to 73yrs old, that means we are here for 0.000000811% worth of time. Here's the perspective Gemini (A.I.) shared with me on that stat:

"To put this incredibly tiny percentage into perspective, if the entire 9-billion-year timeline were compressed into a single 24-hour day, 73 years would flash by in just 0.0007 seconds (less than a single millisecond)."

Pretty powerful to help us see how lucky we are for this ONE, SHORT time in life.

ENJOY IT and LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE!

Don't get caught up in all the bullshit and drama. It's NOT worth it!

  1. "To a great extent, you live the life you create for yourself". As we learn more and continue to grow and evolve in time, I think this is becoming (slowly) better understood. Most of our parents and grandparents were taught a "life path", but in 2026 we're understanding that there really is no "one set path" to living a good life. We can do it in SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS. The important component is always staying TRUE TO YOURSELF; YOUR beliefs, YOUR goals and YOUR life you WANT for YOURSELF. It can BE so many things! Like our health - there's no "one way".

  2. "Being busy doesn't mean being productive". This one is SO IMPORTANT for us to LEARN and/or RE-LEARN in today's modern, "on the go" world. Too many of us are "busy". However that "busy-ness" is often our OWN doing and it is NEGATIVELY impacting our deep health. It's also negatively impacting our QUALITY of work. We've become more about "finishing" a job, a task, a project so we can get to the next thing... rather than taking pride in our work and doing it REALLY WELL. We choose SPEED over QUALITY and CARE. And it's honestly back-firing on us in SO MANY WAYS.

  1. "Some kind of failure always occurs before success". This was an awesome point by Marc & Angel in their post. Sadly, we've TRULY LOST this fact. It's foreign to us today and even worse for the younger generations that we've "protected". Kids are growing up NOT KNOWING how to fail, how to learn from failure and how to grow from it. We've created a world where "everyone's a winner" and there are no consequences. And it's NOT just the younger generation it's impacted. It's ALL generations. Now, even us older generations seem to think that we can have everything "perfectly" all the time; health, career, relationships etc... And when it doesn't go that way what do we do? We quit. We beat ourselves up. We see ourselves as a total failure and useless in whatever we're trying to do. We've lost the ability to "take the journey" and "go through the steps" to GET TO SUCCESS and instead we complain, say "it is what it is" (*cringe!!!*) and give up.

  2. "Thinking and doing are two very different things". I can share so many examples of this in recent years in health and in daily life. This connects as well to the reminder that many of us are living our lives where our "words don't match our actions". You can think about doing something for your health all you want (and it can be the best idea ever), however until you ACT on it, NOTHING will change. It will forever be just a good idea. DOING / TAKING ACTION is where the magic happens. ACTIONS truly do speak louder than words.

  3. "You don't have to wait for an apology to forgive". This one is powerful and certainly easier said than done. But this practice can slowly become something that truly allows you to LET GO. As I continue to learn and help teach others I coach, we all need the reminder that we CAN'T control what others do, say or think. We can ONLY control those aspects within ourselves. You CAN'T "make" someone apologize or even feel the need to. YOU have EVERY ability to forgive THEM and allow YOURSELF to move forward. Like anything in our health, this is an on-going practice and it absolutely does NOT happen over night. The willingness itself to work on this in YOUR life, will open doors and possibilities for YOUR OWN DEEP HEALTH. And ultimately, isn't that the number one thing we all want?

  1. "Some people are simply the wrong match for you". This one's hard to accept often, but important to remind ourselves about more often than we do. This includes family too. Especially as we grow and evolve as our individual selves, connections, beliefs, lifestyles etc may stray further from what they once were. That's NOT necessarily "bad". It's just life. We all move on our own path and it doesn't always align with those around us. I've personally encountered friendships that have changed or dissolved, but not necessarily in "bad" ways, rather just naturally over time. Everyone moves through chapters in their life, and when you look at it in that way, most of the time you can see / feel why that person was a part of that chapter of your life. They were a part of your journey in life and hopefully had a positive impact in some ways, even if it was for a short time. As you change, grow and evolve as humans, you naturally may take different life paths (in all aspects). That's okay! Sometimes holding onto WHAT WAS can be more detrimental to our wellbeing than letting go and being okay with WHAT IS.

  2. "It's not other people's job to love and respect you, it's yours". This is always tough for us to swallow eh? I mean, aren't we all loveable awesome humans within our own minds? Most of us feel we're doing our best I'm sure. The unfortunate reality today, especially as we continue to learn more about human pscyhology and health, is that for many of us we DON'T love and respect ourselves as much as we need to live a happy, healthy life. We spend so much time trying to please others, impress others and giving others our energy that over time we learn to push ourselves aside more and more, until we're left run down and unhealthy. In our defense, most of us were NOT taught HOW to love and respect ourselves. Though that doesn't mean it's ever "too late" to learn.

  3. "What you own is not who you are". This one's deep in my opinion. It makes me think of desire to own the "best car" or "biggest home". Sure those things may be impressive and people like them, but YOU may be an asshole and NOT well liked! On the flip side, you may be someone who has VERY LITTLE to show for any of your hard work and way of living, yet you have the most genuine, warm and caring heart of any human being. WHO we ARE, how we treat OURSELVES, how we make others FEEL and how we TREAT those around us is our legacy in life - Not the fancy "toys", big home or expensive lavish lifestyle.

  4. "Everything changes, every day". This is my FAVOURITE on this list hands down. Since diving a bit into Buddhism, mindfulness and meditation, this LIFE FACT has been the BIGGEST eye opener, ah-ha moment for me. NOTHING IS PERMANENT. When we become AWARE of this natural fact of life, we then can begin to practice LETTING GO in so many ways. We can LET GO of trying to "make / keep things the way they were before". We can LET GO of the stress, anger and frustration that comes along with that. We can continue to build our resilience and flexibility in life in knowing this fact. It's incredible how it can change us when we ACCEPT and UNDERSTAND this part, of this one life we get to live.

If we all took more time to ponder these facts of life and our everyday, I think we'd see and feel alot more compassion EVERYWHERE; For ourselves, for others and for this ONE life we are fortunate enough to live. When we meditate on these facts, we can also find an easier path to our health, wellbeing and how we approach daily life and our relationships.
