It Won't Just "Get Better"...

I know what you're thinking; "Whoa, Mr Negativity! Ease up!". It helped bring you in for the conversation thought didn't it? 😉
I had a conversation with a client this morning that brought me to wanting to share some quick thoughts. Clearly, life is heavy on my client right now and that weighs on the coach as well. It's on my mind, so I want to put it out there as a reminder to all of us...
It won't just "get better"
Life is HEAVY for many. The good news is, we have a much deeper understanding of human health to MANAGE that weight that life naturally brings. With that comes learning and building an individual toolbox of "go-to's" when we need them most, in order to keep our own health and wellbeing as our priority. To do that, we have to move AWAY from the mindset that things will "slow down" and/or "get better" on their own. That's 100% BULLSHIT that we tell ourselves, still, today in 2026. And that comes down to our environment as a society.
"When work settles down I'll do 'x'..."
"When things get better I'll be able to accomplish 'y'..."
"When I have the energy to do something (before or after) work I will do 'z'..."

We can't "wish it" to happen. We can't keep "waiting" for it to happen. It WON'T. We have to ACTIVELY and REALISTICALLY build our lifestyle so that things CAN happen for us, while doing it with SELF-COMPASSION at all times.
That "approach" if you will of "waiting for things to 'get better'" (or "slow down") is all around us. We hear it from many people we work with, live with and interact with. But guess what? The majority of those people are also WORN OUT, feeling the HEAVINESS of life right now and NOT managing their stress and wellbeing. Not the best role models to help us move forward I'd say. Don't be like "everyone else". Don't be "normal" (i.e. stressed out, low energy, 'staying in the familiar', not taking charge to create change...).
My conversation with my client was parallel with many other client conversations:
"I feel like I'm not in control"
"I want balance back in my days/weeks"
"At the end of the day I don't feel like doing anything"
"I can't talk to anyone about this stuff"
These things aren't fun and we ALL have experienced each of these in some way. The only way to GET CONTROL back for ourselves, is to TAKE ACTION. WAITING will change nothing. Especially waiting for "life to slow or get better" - Not a chance today. The world moves FASTER THAN EVER in human history. It may slow, but it will ABSOLUTELY BE VERY TEMPORARY. Therefore, learning to work WITH LIFE from within ourselves is how we're going to build resilience and deep health.
We CAN Change
My aim with ALL my clients across the board is to make them "Abnormal". To be approaching health with the WHOLE SELF in mind, with foundational practices rather than the "latest and greatest" and with a STRONG and RESILIENT MIND rather than the "squirrel mind" that we see everywhere in modern times.
Here's a few quick starters for you...
FORCE is NOT the answer anymore. We used to arguably be able to do this. "Put your head down and just do it" right? Not anymore. FORCING things on ourselves is actually most likely what's holding you back.
HOLDING things in. Hey Seinfeld fans, you know this! "Serenity Now". Remember that one? It's 100% true. NOT being able to get your thoughts out through human interaction and meaningful conversation AND/OR through your own stress management and lifestyle habits only builds onto the chronic stress that you're experiencing. "Holding it in" with no means of managing that impact, ONLY builds. It DOES NOT just "go away" eventually.
SAME SHIT, DIFFERENT DAY doesn't work. What I mean here is, if you keep saying to yourself; "If I just exercise more I'll have more energy", yet every day you come home wiped due to the stress of the day, most likely that approach/idea is NOT going to work right now. To keep "trying" the same approach, same mindset and same ideas over and over is going to continue to give you the SAME results.
Health runs deep (aka DEEP HEALTH). We've touched on this many times here on the Zen Blog and will continue to do so. Working with the Deep Health Model has changed how I can help people and how WE (all of us) can help ourselves. Understanding that our AMAZING physiology is complex and interconnected. EVERYTHING within us is connected. When our physiology feels the weight of the day, every day and we "numb it", "bottle it up" and DON'T manage it in any way, that emotional, mental, spiritual (maybe even social) drain naturally impacts our physical energy and abilities as well. And vice versa. Re-learning to listen to our physiology, provide it with an environment to heal and thrive and approaching health with a holistic understanding, can help us manage this heavy modern world we navigate through each day.
Health & Wellness Coaching provides an outlet, learning and evolution in your health and wellbeing through the understanding of deep health. The ability to provide these insights, understanding, tools and conversations with clients is where my passion lies. There is a NEED to build this awareness within ourselves to serve our health and create positive health outcomes. First we have to LET ourselves be OPEN to re-learning to trust our physiology and to be open to creating change for the better of our future selves.
