A Problem with "This or That" approach - DON'T get Sucked in!

I've been seeing lots of headlines pop up regarding "Cardio vs weights" popping up again. I get frustrated because it's been a topic for a LONG time and it's (like many things) recycled and thrown back out there. The problem is, it's just confusing people MORE.

I'm coming at this from the perspective that MOST of us are NOT consistently practicing healthy habits. If we were (as a society) our health statistics would be IMPROVING, which they are not. This in itself is a great reason to move away from a "this or that" approach, since it's BEEN the way we've been approaching health for at least the 25yrs I've been working in the industry.

If we use the example of "cardio vs weights" the concern here is that we get so caught up in the "debate", the information and stressing about it that many people end up NOT doing ANYTHING! And I'm sorry, but a "cardio vs weights" debate is a pretty meaningless way to spend your mental energy is you're NOT doing either of them.

Let's say you ARE doing ONE or both of them. Instead of worrying about headlines or silly debates, try this:

How do I feel with the current way I'm doing things?

Is it working for me and my goals?

Follow THAT advice/guidance.

When might this question be reasonable?

In my opinion, for the general population who are striving for health, lifespan and healthspan we NEED BOTH. WE NEED BALANCE. 🤣 Question asked and answered. It's not a "one or the other" case. Our physiology and health thrives with this balance. Nature doesn't work on a "this or that" premise either. And since we ARE nature, we too need that balance of things that allow our physiology to work efficiently.
