I'm currently reading "The Let Them Theory" by Mel Robbins. Personally, there's some much needed things to hear and begin practicing within the pages of this book and along with that, she shares many powerful, thought provoking quotes. Here's one of the most impactful so far:

"When YOU are proud of yourself,
YOU hold all the power"
This book is specifically in the mental and emotional realms of our deep health. However, I want to relate this to our deep health on the whole for this post.
How often are YOU proud of yourself?
This was the first thought that came to my mind as I read this great quote;
How often are YOU poud of yourself?
To add to that...
How often are you DOING something that makes you feel proud of yourself?
Feeling proud of yourself comes from a few different things...
Taking ACTION
Being PRESENT in the moment
Taking time to SLOW DOWN and consider your own thoughts, feelings, emotions, wants, goals, etc..
I think this is where (sadly) too many of us are missing out in this wild, unpredictable modern world. We're NOT doing those three things mentioned with any regularity. A few examples of this:
Doom-scrolling as your "go-to down time activity" will not create a sense of feeling proud about yourself (it'll actually do the EXACT opposite)
Talking and/or complaining about your health, your job, your lifestyle etc without taking any ACTION to change anything
Scheduling every waking minute of our free time with OTHER things for OTHER people
Create small moments that YOU can feel proud about
l argue that too many of us are doing LESS and LESS to feel this sense of accomplishment and being proud of ourselves because we use less creativity and imagination in our everyday lives. We run very much on autopilot most days. By slowing down, thinking, taking action and putting ourselves first we can discover small ways of cultivating that feeling on a regular basis;
Moving your body in modified ways to realize you CAN do something (eg: getting up and down from the floor).
Choosing to read a book for 10min with your morning coffee each day.
Doing 3-resistance exercises or mobility drills that make you feel good each day.
Allowing yourself time to do things you ALWAYS loved but maybe stopped or avoided because "you're too old" or "you're not supposed to enjoy those things as you get older"
Choosing to go to bed 20min earlier
Choosing to eat a particular meal because YOU want to, not because you "have to" or because it's "healthy" or not.
Imagine the positive impact on our wellbeing if we actively re-learned to put ourselves and our real life FIRST in these small ways, how it would impact our every day energy and vitality for life. 🥰
