"Get Rid of Something..."

This speaks to our conversations this month about SLOWING DOWN. Even while the world around you SPEEDS UP. There is STRENGTH and WISDOM in that.
There is also HEALTH and WELLBEING.
The norm: When we're in the "whirlwind of the chaos" we are 100% oblivious to all it's doing to our health and wellbeing. We're blinded to the negative impact on ourselves (and others in some cases) because we are on "autopilot". We move through our days like zombies, complaining of our low energy, lack of motivation, everything we "should" be doing and everything that's wrong with our health. With all that in mind we tend to do one of two things more often than not:
We continue as we are, "living" (I use that term loosely) an infinite loop of exhaustion, stress and negativity dragging us down
We take on MORE and enhance this cycle that's making us feel LESS like ourselves
When most people today are stressed, they pile MORE of what is making them feel the way they're feeling into their days, and expecting something to change for the better. You can't keep doing what MADE YOU FEEL this way and expect a different outcome.

Humans NEED very little: Our NEEDS and WANTS are two very different things. Humans NEED VERY LITTLE: Food, shelter, water. Additional elements to help us thrive are things like love/connection, creativity/imagination and health. Everything else is NOISE. It's STUFF. "Noise" + stuff = CHRONIC stress. Adding MORE to that equation of either of those things, BUILDS MORE stress on top of STRESS. Too many of us act surprised by this...
When we build a snowman, we start with a small snowball, roll it in the snow and it gradually builds bigger and bigger.
When we learn a new sport, art form or instrument, we start with basic principles and exercises, and as we pratice more our abilities improve more and more
When we build with lego, we start with a couple pieces and as we add to them it creates something bigger and higher
When we learn to read, we start with letters and sounds, which progresses into combining letters and learning full words, which leads to reading and understanding entire books
THIS IS LIFE and it's ALL around us for us to EXPERIENCE. Yet in health, we IGNORE these FACTS of life. We get caught up in the "busy-ness" of modern life and we ADD MORE noise/stuff/stress on top of those same things that have us feeling low and unhealthy. STOP building MORE up. START taking things AWAY. LET yourself SLOW. LET your physiology be heard so you can learn and understand what's happening from the inside out.
YOU are in control WAY more than YOU realize.
YOU are more knowledgeable in what YOU need than you give yourself credit for.
YOU (99% of us) need LESS. We need to start seeking and practicing LESS.
