Change in and of itself is NOT scary

In health and wellness, more often than not we talk about change. Change, at first, seems scary. Understandably so. However, it's NOT CHANGE that's scary...

The "scary" part for most of us when it comes to change, is the UNKNOWN. As individuals, we WANT the change - especially in positive ways for our health. The UNKNOWN however (like the effort, time and energy that we need to put into creating change) is the "scary part". It's unfortunate how often this holds (too many) people back from TAKING ACTION for the sake of their health and wellbeing. 😟
Let's share a few QUICK points to see if we can help create (at the very least) some thinking at YOUR end in regards to aspects of your health and wellbeing that you keep WANTING to change...
Psychology of Change is understood much better
Maybe it's just because I've been diving deeper into it in the latter years of my career, but I do feel that this is out there in the mainstream "amongst the weeds". One such helpful resource is the book by BJ Fogg "Tiny Habits". Another one on the same wavelength is "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. Both of which came out PRE-pandemic, but I would argue are EVEN MORE necessary NOW!
This is where coaching can help!
To go along with the first point, this is where coaching can help. A coach can help you work with barriers, create an approach/plan that's realistic to you and help keep you in a mind space that is EASY and DO-ABLE for you (helping you move away from 'all or nothing' extremes in thinking and approach). A coach can help you see (and feel) how change DOES NOT need to be scary in any way.
The fear comes from our "story telling mind", NOT reality
The unknown is ALWAYS something that brings uncertainty, prejudice and fear. In WANTING to change aspects of our health and wellbeing, it's our MIND that creates this story about "how hard the change will be", "how long it will take", "how much sacrifice has to happen to make things work" etc... YET, it's just that - A story. It's NOT reality. Often, when clients shift into a growth mindset and taking action they realize it's really not that hard, and certainly not that bad.
If you're resonating with this and you've been talking and/or thinking about CHANGE but have yet to take ACTION, connect with 'Coach D'. Have a conversation and discussion to help you CREATE CHANGE for yourself and your deep health in simple and VERY NON-SCARY ways. 😃
